AdSEARCH organised its 1st Gender and Rights Training
AdSEARCH project as one of the strategies to address gender and rights issues in the project activities has launched one of its first sessions of the Gender and Rights Training series from 22 August 2022. This two-day training has offered participants a unique learning experience focusing on a range of issues broadly relating to rights, and gender, particularly using a gender lens in their research and work. The diverse training contents will help participants to gain a nuanced understanding of the issues as much as offers practical skills development to do gender analysis and took a 360-degree approach to cover scientific, non-scientific and field-level staff. The AdSEARCH Gender and Rights training stands out from others as its highly participatory sessions build on participants’ own understanding of gender and rights issues and capacitate them to use different tools and techniques such as using gender analysis framework and developing gender-sensitive indicators to mainstream gender in their work. The two-day session from 22nd to 23rd of August demonstrated not only an improved knowledge level among the participants but also enhanced their skills in doing gender analysis. The key takeaways for the participants were to grapple with the reasons why public health should address gender and know how to conduct cutting-edge gendered research. The upcoming training will be convened in October 2022.
