Global Affair Canada’s representative visited Nutri-CAP activity

On 31 January 2023, representative of Global Affairs Canada (GAC), Dr Momena Khatun, Health Technical Specialist visited icddr,b’s Nutrition-based component ‘Nutri-CAP: Nutrition for Children, Adolescent girls, and Pregnant Women in slums of Dhaka city’ which is one of the major components of Advancing Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (AdSEARCH) by icddr,b. Dr Mustafa Mahfuz, Associate Scientist of the Nutrition and Clinical Services Division of icddr,b, and theme lead along with other team members of AdSEARCH welcomed her. The intent of the visit was to update the progress of the AdSEARCH Work Packages and to meet the beneficiaries in urban poor-density areas. The visit began with an opening session held at icddr,b’s Nutri-CAP project office located at Mirpur-11 early in the morning. Fahmida Dil Farzana, Assistant Scientist, Nutrition and Clinical Services Division of icddr,b presented an overview of the Nutri-CAP study along with the objectives, intervention, current status, and the challenges of the activity. She mentioned that under AdSEARCH, icddr,b is working on developing a model to implement sustainable nutrition service delivery platforms in a slum settlement of Dhaka city. Dr Khatun also visited the Bauniabad slum in Mirpur and spoke with the beneficiaries, including adolescent girls, pregnant women, and caregivers of children under two years of age. She also observed various activities at the local field office. The research investigator, communication specialist, nutritionist, and other AdSEARCH project officials were present.
