AdSEARCH organised a Thematic Working Group (TWG) meeting on Fertility and Gynaecological issues
On 22 February 2023, the Maternal and Child Health Division (MCHD) of icddr,b organised a Thematic Working Group (TWG) meeting on ‘Fertility and Gynaecological Issues’ under the Advancing Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (AdSEARCH) by icddr,b.
The meeting was attended by 22 participants, including Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) Experts from various organisations such as the Government officials, UN organisations, INGOs, NGOs, and icddr,b researchers. Dr Fauzia Akhter Huda, Project Coordinator of MCHD and Theme Lead, presented the AdSEARCH project and its ongoing and proposed studies related to ‘Fertility and Gynaecological Issues’. Among the 14 ongoing and proposed studies under this thematic area, three were showcased at the TWG meeting. ‘A cohort study on understanding the sexual and reproductive health and rights needs and socio-cultural context among newlywed couples in selected rural and urban areas of Bangladesh’ was presented at the meeting. In addition, two other studies were also presented: ‘Feasibility and acceptability of reusable menstrual cups’ and ‘Pocket colposcope for cervical cancer screening in Bangladesh: implementation research’.
Participants provided valuable feedback and suggestions and expressed their interest in collaborating to improve the SRHR and well-being of diverse population groups with SRH needs.
