A team of researchers of AdSEARCH by icddr,b has visited Feni district in Bangladesh to introduce a pilot study aimed at promoting peer communication and facilitating digital capacity-building activities for school-based adolescent health. The team, consisting of health experts and researchers, met with Feni's Civil Surgeon (CS) and District Education Officer (DEO) to discuss the study's objectives and seek their formal approval.
During the meeting, the Feni CS and DEO welcomed the initiative and pledged their full support. They also assigned a Senior Health Education Officer (SHEO) to assist the study team and agreed to notify the selected schools to cooperate with the study team. The study team will begin baseline data collection in the selected schools from early March 2023.
The study aims to develop and test an app that will promote peer communication and facilitate digital capacity-building activities for school-based adolescent health in the Feni district. The app's development is part of the effort to improve adolescent health outcomes in Bangladesh, where adolescents face significant health challenges.
The app will provide a platform for adolescents to access relevant health information, communicate with their peers and healthcare providers, and engage in health-promoting activities. The pilot study's success will inform future efforts to promote adolescent health in Bangladesh.
The study is being conducted by a team Advancing Sexual and Reproductive Health (AdSEARCH)by icddr,b.
