Advanced STATA Workshop on BDHS & MICS Dataset 2023 :Based on Gender Equity & Rights
As a part of the capacity development programme, The Advancing Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (AdSEARCH) by icddr,b organised a three-day long ‘Advanced STATA Workshop on BDHS & MICS Dataset 2023: Based on Gender Equity & Rights’ from March 21st to March 23rd, 2023 at Traction meeting room icddr,b.
The workshop aimed to provide mid and senior-level researchers of icddr,b with advanced training in STATA, a widely used statistical software, focusing on large datasets.
The workshop was facilitated by a team from the Maternal and Child Health Division (MCHD), icddr,b, which included Abu Bakkar Siddique, Ema Akter, Shahnaj Sultana Sathi, K M Tanvir, Anindita Saha, Farhia Azrin, and Lutful Kader Riyad. A total of twelve participants experienced rigorous training during the workshop.
The workshop commenced with an opening speech by Anisuddin Ahmed, Assistant Scientist, icddr,b, who highlighted the significance of the training workshop as a platform for icddr,b researchers from diverse backgrounds to enhance their skills in STATA and basic data analysis.
The workshop utilised a hands-on approach, allowing participants to practice and reproduce 40 gender-based indicators using the BDHS and MICS datasets on their own. The workshop concluded with participants proposing research topics for potential publication in research papers, with facilitators offering ongoing support for data analysis and manuscript writing.
