AdSEARCH Capacity Development Workshop on Thesis Writing and Data Analysis
With support from the Advancing Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (AdSEARCH) by icddr,b, Dept. of Neonatology, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU), Bangladesh Perinatal Society (BPS), and Bangladesh Neonatal Forum (BNF) organised a two-day ‘Capacity Development Workshop of Health Professional on Thesis Writing and Data analysis’ on 14 and 15 June 2023 at the Shaheed Dr. Milon Hall, BSMMU.
The workshop provided basic to mid-level training on thesis writing and data analysis with SPSS, a widely used statistical software. The workshop commenced with an opening speech by Professor Dr Sanjoy Kumer Dey, Chairman, Dept. of Neonatology, BSMMU.
A team from icddr,b and BSMMU included Prof. Dr Sanjoy Kumer Dey, Prof. Dr Md. Abdul Mannan, Abu Sayeed, Somaya Mostarin, Shahnaj Sultana Sathi, K M Tanvir, Md. Lutful Kader, Farhia Azrin, Anindita Saha and Rajon Banik facilitated the workshop. A total of 26 participants from different medical institutions across the country received rigorous training.
The facilitators provided in-depth training on Literature Review from Google Scholar and PubMed, Study design, Basic statistical tests, Sample size determination, Reference management with Mendeley, and Thesis writing. The workshop utilised a hands-on approach, allowing participants to practice data analysis with SPSS as well as referencing through Mendeley.
