Mukhorito Team organised AdoVoice Workshop for Adolescents
On 22 June 2023, the ‘Mukhorito’ research study team of AdSEARCH by icddr,b organised the AdoVoice Workshop at icddr,b with ambassadors from the adolescent community from Bangla and English medium schools. The interactive workshop highlighted and acknowledged the vital role of adolescents in the development of the Mukhorito App. The app is a platform designed to address the unique challenges surrounding Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) issues faced by adolescents. The workshop commenced with a warm welcome and they engaged in an icebreaker session and other activities. Dr Hassan Rushekh Mahmood initiated the session by introducing the 'Mukhorito' app. Dr Tanvir Hayder delivered an informative presentation, including the launching video, an SRHR-related word game, the purpose of the app, its functionalities, and an overview of the contents, accompanied by a demo video.
Following the presentation, students provided feedback, expressing that they rarely discuss these topics with their peers, friends, or parents. Recognising the growing importance of mental health among adolescents, the students proposed a dedicated section within the 'Mukhorito' App. The adolescents also recommended including both Bangla and English languages in the app's content to ensure accessibility and inclusivity for all users. They appreciated the initiative and expressed their interest in participating in similar workshops in the future. Through active engagement, the study team is continuously putting efforts to ensure the app effectively addresses adolescents' unique challenges regarding SRHR issues, plays a role in empowering them, and improves their overall well-being.
