District-level Sensitisation Workshops on ‘Essential Gynaecological Skills Project’ in Bangladesh

‘Essential Gynaecological Skill (EGS)' project conducted sensitisation workshop for enhancing women's healthcare services in Bangladesh at Kushtia and Dinajpur District Hospitals on 30 April 2023, and 11 May 2023, respectively. The programme aims to improve women's access to high-quality, patient-centred treatment for their gynaecological health needs.


Dr Sabrina Jabeen, Assistant Scientist MCHD, icddr,b presented the project's objectives and implementation plan. Dr Rubaiya Matin Chandrima and Dr Mahiur Rahman, study physicians icddr,b facilitated the workshop.

At Kushtia Dr H. M Anwarul Islam, Civil Surgeon of Kushtia; Dr Md. Touhidul Hasan Tuhin, Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer, Daulatpur, and Dr Monorama Sarkar, Assistant Professor & Head, Obs & Gynae Department, Kushtia Medical College and Hospital were present.


At Dinajpur, Dr AHM Borhan-Ul-Islam Siddiki, Civil Surgeon of Dinajpur, Dr Nuzhat Nadia, DPM (EOC), MH, DGHS; Dr Md. Moshiur Rahman, UH&FPO of Fulbari Upazila Health Complex; Dr Ashutosh Deb Shorma, Senior Consultant, Obs & Gynae Department, 250 Bed General Hospital, Dinajpur; Dr Md. Fazlur Rahman, Superintendent of the 250 Bed General Hospital, Dinajpur were present.


The programme is implemented by icddr,b, under the leadership of the Maternal Health Programme, MNC&AH, DGHS, with technical assistance from the Obstetrical and Gynaecological Society of Bangladesh (OGSB) and with financial support from the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) and Global Affairs Canada (GAC) through Advancing Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (AdSEARCH) by icddr,b.
