Endorsement meeting of EGS Implementation Package
On 26 April 2023 ‘Improving Essential
Gynaecological Healthcare’ project organised an endorsement meeting at the
Maternal Health Conference Room, EPI Bhaban, Mohakhali, Dhaka.
Dr Md. Azizul Alim, Programme Manager
of the Maternal Health Programme, DGHS, and Dr Md. Jahangir Alam Prodhan,
Programme Manager of the Maternal Health Programme, DGFP, attended the meeting
and vowed to support the project wholeheartedly.
Dr Sabrina Jabeen, Assistant Scientist, MCHD, icddr,b,
introduced the EGS implementation package, which encompasses
Bangladesh-specific adaptations of EGS modules from the Royal College of
Obstetricians and Gynecologists (RCOG) the development of a gynaecological data
recording system, job aids, and the translation and printing of EGS modules and
data recording systems. The
presentation was accompanied by Shams El Arifeen, Senior Director and
Senior Scientist of MCHD, icddr,b and Ahmed Ehsanur Rahman, Scientist of MCHD,
icddr,b. A discussion involving representatives from development partners such
as WHO, UNICEF, UNFPA, Save the Children, and Ipas Bangladesh followed.
Dr Rubaiya Matin Chandrima and Dr Mahiur Rahman, study
physicians from MCHD, icddr,b facilitated the meeting.
The programme is implemented
by icddr,b, under the leadership of the Maternal Health Programme, MNC&AH,
DGHS, with technical assistance from the Obstetrical and Gynaecological Society
of Bangladesh (OGSB) and with financial support from the Royal College of
Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) and Global Affairs Canada (GAC) through
Advancing Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (AdSEARCH) by icddr,b.
