Healthcare providers’ training under 'Essential Gynaecological Skill' project

The 'Essential Gynaecological Skill' project conducted the healthcare providers' training at the district hospitals of Dinajpur and Kushtia districts. Each district organised two batches of a 3-day long training programme.


In Dinajpur district, a total of 38 healthcare providers dealing with gynaecological issues from Dinajpur District Hospital and Fulbari Upazila Health Complex participated in the training from 23 May to 29 May 2023. Dr AHM Borhan-Ul-Islam Siddiki, Civil Surgeon of Dinajpur, inaugurated the training programme, and concluded with remarks by Dr Md. Fazlur Rahman, Superintendent of Dinajpur District Hospital.



On the other hand, in Kushtia district, another 38 doctors and nurses dealing with gynaecological issues at Kushtia District Hospital and Daulatpur Upazila Health Complex participated as trainees from 3 June to 5 June 2023. Prior to the healthcare providers' training at the facility level, two batches of a three-day long "expert trainers' training" programme were arranged for mid-level gynaecologists at OGSB Hospital, Dhaka. Subsequently, an expert trainer pool of 26 gynaecologists was formed. The healthcare providers' training followed the same training modality as the expert trainers' training at OGSB Hospital. It included lectures covering 11 gynaecological conditions, followed by breakout sessions. The trainees completed pre and post-tests and provided feedback regarding the training. Moreover, the icddr,b research team introduced a gynaecological data recording system to the training participants. The icddr,b research team facilitated the healthcare providers' training in both districts. Afterwards, the gynaecological data recording system was implemented at the selected facilities outdoors immediately after the training by the icddr,b research team.
