AdSEARCH's QualScience Initiatives take place biweekly
To enhance the methodological and epistemological knowledge of qualitative research among researchers in MCHD, as well as at the icddr,b, QualScience, a peer learning endeavour of AdSEARCH, has been making waves since its inception in April 2023, QualScience has routinely conducted eight enlightening sessions till August 2023 and more are planned.
The sessions revolve around a discussion-based approach where attendees are encouraged to share their thoughts and ideas through engaging discursive practices. These sessions also incorporate Q&A segments, which have become instrumental in fostering extensive sociological, anthropological, and cultural insights into the realms of health, care, and healing practices within societies.
QualScience's journey began on 10 April 2023, with its inaugural session ‘Introduction to Qualitative Research.’ This foundational session provided insights into the preliminary ideas, objectives, and tools of qualitative research. The eighth session, conducted on 16 August 2023, focused on ‘Sampling Techniques in Qualitative Research and Methods of Conducting Qualitative Interviews’. Throughout its existence, QualScience has explored a range of crucial topics, including the contribution of phenomenology and case studies, the contribution of ethnography in qualitative research, the contribution of grounded theory in qualitative research, and conceptual framework in qualitative research.
QualScience aimed to increase the capacity of researchers in qualitative research so that multifaceted understanding can be generated to solve public health problems. Furthermore, the attempt wants to emerge the intensive practice of peer learning that will strengthen the qualitative perspectives in innovative and scientific research.
