AdSEARCH Commemorates World Mental Health Day 2023
On 10 September 2023, the Wellbeing study team by AdSEARCH observed World Mental Health Day at icddr,b. Aligning with this year’s global theme “Our Minds Our Rights”, the Mental Well-being Corner study team set up a corner with informative materials at the icddr,b premises aiming to raise awareness.
The initiative offered staff to discover their emotional health on the spot utilising the standardised assessment tools, Patient Health Questionnaires (PHQ) and Generalised Anxiety Disorders (GAD), both commonly used in the field of mental health to help screen for and assess symptoms of depression and generalised anxiety disorder. This initiative emphasised that mental health is a fundamental human right and encompasses many issues, including stress, anxiety, and depression.
Since October 2022, AdSEARCH by icddr has been addressing and working on mental health and well-being in one of its Innovation studies, ‘Introducing Well-being Corner for Women During Antepartum and Postpartum Period to Increase Access to Mental Health Services: An Implementation Research in Health Facility,’ at the Dinajpur and Netrokona districts in Bangladesh. The study established four wellbeing corners at the district and Upazila Hospital.
