The effectiveness of an innovative nutrition and healthcare model titled “Nutri-CAP,” implemented in Bauniabadh slum in Dhaka, has been demonstrated through research evidence. The community-engaged programme resulted in a 1.4 kg increase in the average weight of pregnant women, a 16 percent reduction in the risk of neonatal mortality, and notable improvements in health indicators among adolescents and children.
For long-neglected urban poor populations—particularly slum dwellers who have historically remained underserved in city health systems—this successful model offers renewed promise and a scalable pathway for inclusive urban primary healthcare interventions.
