2 in 3 rural adolescent girls face menstrual disorders

Nearly two in three adolescent girls in rural Bangladesh suffer menstrual disorders with painful periods, disrupting their daily lives and forcing many to miss school, according to a study conducted by International Centre for Diarrhoeal Diseases Research, Bangladesh.

The findings, released in Dhaka on Thursday, were drawn from a 24-month cohort study conducted by the ICDDR,B between 2023 and 2025 involving 2,713 adolescents from Baliakandi in Rajbari, said a press release.
