Study Overview
Infertility, or the inability to conceive, is a significant reproductive health issue that has a wide range of negative psychological and social impacts on couples' lives, particularly on women. AdSEARCH aims to shed light on this emerging yet under-focused issue by conducting a 24 months long study to determine the prevalence of infertility and its associated factors in Bangladesh, as well as to understand the health-seeking behaviour of infertile couples. A total of 3,400 currently married women from Baliakandi and Matlab were interviewed to identify the women who are experiencing infertility. Identified infertile women will be followed-up for one year to understand their service utilisation patterns. Using qualitative approach, the study is also focusing to understand the lived-experiences of infertile couples, and societal views toward infertility and documenting experiences of healthcare providers providing services to infertile couples.
