Study Overview

With the objective to document and explore the SRHR needs of the Key Populations (KPs) visiting the selected public and private healthcare facilities in Dhaka and Jashore, AdSEARCH have taken the initiative to conduct a mixed-method study to assess the situations through numbers and in-depth narratives and observations underlying the numbers. AdSEARCH has planned to work in one public hospital in Dhaka and one NGO-operated health facility to observe, assess, and understand the situation concerning SRHR service provision to the KPs.

Though the situation in Dhaka cannot be generalised, but can serve as a practicable indication of the SRHR-related service situation for KPs in Bangladesh, particularly in big divisional cities. We have also planned to work in public and non-government health facilities in Jashore, one of the SRHR surveillance sites for the KPs, as this can provide us a picture of similar mid-level districts of Bangladesh. While assessing and understanding the situation, we have decided to utilise the WHO's health systems building blocks and beyond if necessary.
